What's the problem with storing tires near electric motors?

Eddie warned against this in an earlier thread. It sounded like it had to do with ozone. How serious is that? Is there also a fire hazard?
I'm planning to store my summer wheels/tires in the cellar, several feet from an electric circulator pump. Is this a bad idea?

... Tire rubber contains antiozonants for protection against intermittent exposure, but not the continuous exposure that you can get from an electric motor. The sidewall rubber in particular is vulnerable to cracking from exposure to ozone.
The brown stain you often see on a new tire is the antioxidant/antiozonant bleeding out of the rubber.
