the other is off! Why is wheel balance such an inperfect science? Can other things up front cause my steering wheel shimmy at 55-75? Axels? I have a 91 CQ and it is rare that someone can get a good balance on this car with good condition Borbet rims 16 inch. Could it be AXLES? I just had my strut mounts replaced and allignment.

A lot can cause what you are seeing (feeling).
Out of round tires, bent rims, and all the suspension issues.
One of the best shops in Fort Collins is Alpine (on Mountain in old town). They have the experience that I would trust to find the issue.

Are the wheels hub centric? If not do you have good pair of centering rings? A tire can be balanced on the balanced but if it's not centered on the hub of your car, it will vibrate.

You guys were right!! I actually had a guy in Ogden with the expensive Hunter machine mess it up! I took it to Import Auto/Tire in Boulder who specialize in very expensive cars (tires) and they used thier hunter machine with the centering rings in the middle of the wheel (Ogden did not do that) and it took care of the issues!! Unbelievable how difficult it is to find a good balance these days.
