I have one Goodyear GS-D3 with a cut sidewall that I need to replace before I put my summer tires back on next year.

Is the winter a good time to buy a summer tire because demand is lower or do summer tires go on sale at the start of the season?

if you have a problem ( out of round, etc.) you wont have to explain why you waited 6 months to make a claim.

FWIW, I have never seen a seasonal summer tire sale. I'd wait until Spring.

I bought my $130 retail Yokohama all-season tires for about $73 each in Jan 5 yrs ago. I installed them on my summer rims in March that year. It isn't advertised on the web ,just in local papers ,back then it was last week of the year ,but they held my set for couple extra days. I even bought my Blizzaks MZ-02 on a clearance from Firestone dealer, $55 each the year before in the summer ,they had the new models coming out. Just keep checking the papers ,its where I saw both sales advertised. Tire Rack runs clearances also at times,on certain tires .

The only sales I normally see outside of local chain deals are when a tire is being discontinued and existing storage needs to be sold. I think that's what the sales you are talking about were related to.

If you don't have storage for it, or if there isn't some sort of sale, then I would just wait. You don't want to have them sitting outside, and possible crack the soft rubber, due to the cold temps.
