Default Will someone please explain how redrilling works?

Just wondering, never heard a decent explanation here... just that it has fallen out of favor as a way to alter bolt pattern.

OEM S8 wheels redrilled to 5x100 would be nice...

Dreaming of 18" Avus for the TT,

Default curious about redrilling myself, but 18" avus on a tt?!

man, the 17" rims are heavy enough (rim + tire is ~50 lbs) -- i wouldn't put 18" avus rims on an s4, let alone a tt.

just my $.02<p>--

Default Its simple really...

take apart the hubs, chuck up the hubs in a indexing head on a mill and redrill to the pattern you want. Depending on the 'meat' available on the hub, some patterns might not be possible.. This is probably not cheap to have done, but I have done it several times on various cars.
