Audi Q5: How to Replace Air Filter

The air filter is the gate between the outside air and your engine. Learn how to replace a dirty filter in your Audi Q5.

It sounds obvious, but the air filter is designed to filter contaminants out of the air going into your Audi Q5's engine. Over time, the filter starts getting dirty, which restricts the air going into your engine. If your engine gets less air than it needs, it can affect the performance of your vehicle, commonly seen in the engine surging or bogging at low RPM. If it's been more than 25,000 miles since you've replaced your air filter, the time to do so is right now. This guide will show you how to remove the old air filter and install the new one. Audi Q5: How to Replace Air Filter

Materials Needed

  • T30 torx screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Air filter

Step 1 – Remove intake tube

Loosen the worm screw on the intake tube, on the air box side, then pull the intake tube off of the air box. This will allow you to reach one of the screws that is hidden under it.

Step 2 – Remove air box cover

The air box cover is held in place by six T30 screws. Remove the six screws, which are located around the air box.

Step 3 – Replace air filter

Remove the old, dirty filter, and install the new one in place. Then cover the air box and tighten the six screws. Finally, connect the intake tube and tighten its clamp.
