First, let’s be reminded of what the Audi RS6 Avant wagon has to offer

Audi’s RS6 Avant wagon is a supremely well-designed wagon. For one, it packs a ton of power with 591hp being sent to all four wheels and features a brag-worthy 590 lb-ft. of torque. What’s more, it’s able to accelerate like a sports vehicle, going from zero to 62mph in just 3.6 seconds, and can hit 189mph. Just a reminder – this is a station wagon!

Now let’s see what ABT has done to this wagon

ABT Sportsline is a motor racing and auto tuning company based in Germany. Well regarded throughout the industry, the company works with the Audi / VW group to help create upgraded editions of popular vehicle models. When it comes to the RS6 Wagon, ABT has successfully improved upon the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to get it to 690hp. While full details on what’s changed haven’t been offered up (yet), most of the upgrade can be figured to be a new engine control unit with a special tuning that’s more aggressive than what’s rolling off the factory line.

An improved driving experience

In announcing the new take on the power wagon, ABT is quoted as saying that they’ve also included a bunch of engine protection measures to allow the driver to enjoy a worry-free driving experience. In other words, feel free to drive this hard. Early tests suggest the car is able to go from zero to 60mph in 3.3 seconds.

Is this the car that we can expect to see on the showroom floor soon?

Probably not. You see, ABT is a group of perfectionists. And while 690hp is nice, it’s awfully close to that 700hp benchmark and well, we don’t expect them to rest on tuning their new engine until they surpass that mark. After all, previous ABT RS6 projects have gone beyond 700hp, and some other tuners have actually gotten the Avant near the 800hp mark.

Will this cost me an arm and a leg?

Yes. If we’re getting down to brass tacks, the RS6 Avant is a seriously nice car, and the price is reflective of the quality vehicle that you are adding to your driveway. According to various websites across the web, the 2020 Audi RS6 Avant starts at just under $113,000. So, you can imagine the ABT version, with all of its upgrades parts, tweaks, and what have you, will be well north of this quote.
