Why a Body Kit?

From racing aero kits, to completely custom fiberglass designs, it seems there's a body kit for just about every car and purpose. After the car tuning boom in the early 90's the demand for body kits began to rise and it just keeps going. While there's certainly criticism against making your car look faster without making any more power, that doesn’t change the fact that some of these kits are both functional and tasteful looking. So take seat and flip through some kits to make your car stand out from the crowd.

Caractere Performance

One of the top-dogs in the body kit world, Caractere has beautiful body kit designs that appeal to both show car fans and racers. The front bumpers have subtle, slightly larger vent openings, while the side skirts tend to add a few inches to lower the car visually, sometimes including an additional front splitter. The kits also serve a functional, aerodynamic purpose as well. Caractere offers some of the most expensive kits on the market, but as with most things, the phrase “you get what you pay for” couldn’t ring more true. They sell kits for several generations of the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, TT, Q3, Q5, and Q7.

Rieger Tuning

It seems like many Audi owners have a love or hate relationship with Rieger Tuning body kits. Their kits are a bit more gaudy than some you may see, consisting of larger front and rear bumper covers, vents and splitters. While Rieger does have some reported fitment issues, they still remain a crowd favorite for their price and dramatic flair. Their US based stocking distributor ESE Tuning is the best place to shop for these kits.

Liberty Walk LB Works

Most of the kits listed here are fine for daily driven cars, but Liberty Walk from Japan specifically creates their kits for over the top show cars. Featuring downright outrageous designs, that look from fantastic to extreme, these kits are sure to make your jaw drop. Their A5 kit, like most of their offerings, includes additional wide-body fenders, to fit huge rubber under the car, and make it look like a GT racer. The fiber reinforced plastic material is fairly durable, and it better be because these kits are some of the most expensive on this list, selling for over $8,500 a set.

ABT Sportsline

Are you a fan of aggressive looking cars? ABT Sportsline may just fit your style. While the bumpers are stylized similar to some of the Rieger designs, the skirts are a bit more subtle, so instead of looking like a pieced together car, the lines flow fairly smoothly from the stock body to their aftermarket counterparts. When combined with a deep lip, the front bumpers look really aggressive and the fitment is really good. ABT is a good option to consider if you are look at installing an inexpensive kit that still has that German engineered quality.

Oettinger Sportsystems

Oettinger kits are a crowd favorite, even convincing those completely against body kits with their smooth flowing lines and aggressive flair. The kits are available for a variety of different generations and nearly every Audi model. Oettinger kits stand out because they're not designed just to look cool, but with actual aerodynamics in mind. The splitters and diffusers are all purposely placed to help increase the cars handling, all the while producing flowing aesthetic additions to the cars look. Oettinger kits fit wonderfully and can even improve the lines of the car instead of disrupting them. They are considered to be the bestlooking, best fitting, most tasteful after market body kits on the market today.
