Perks of the Job

Soccer, as some Americans may not know, is big business. In fact, it's the most singular popular sport in the world. So it's no surprise to learn that Real Madrid, one of the most storied and successful clubs of all-time, also gets a few perks for their efforts. One of them comes courtesy of their Audi sponsorship, in the form of players receiving a brand new ride of their choice each year.

Interesting Choices

Tough life, indeed. Recently, local news source AS provided us with a breakdown of what model each player chose. In total, 27 players received a vehicle, with a total cost of around $2.4-million. Surprisingly, some of them went with more practical and economic choices than others.

Top of the Heap

Team captain Sergio Ramo opted for the most expensive ride, an A8 50 TDI Quattro Tiptronic, which was valued at $133,000. Audi A7 Fans

Raphaël Varane was the only player who chose an E-Tron, while Vinicius Jr., Álvaro Odriozola, and Marco Asensio, Marcelo all picked up an A7 Sportback. A slew of players chose the regular A7, including Brahim Díaz, Luka Jovic, Mariano Díaz, Luka Modric, Rodrygo Goes, Casemiro, Ferland Mendy, Gareth Bale, Isco, Alphonse Areola, and Éder Militão

Economical Choice

Coming in at the bottom of the list was a surprisingly economical trio of Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and manager Zinedine Zidane, who all chose the $75,000 RS 3 Sportback TFSI Quattro S Tronic. But at least all three picked a different color to set them apart - white, gray, and black, respectively.

Fine Print

Of course, the players and staff don't get to keep these vehicles forever. They merely get to drive them now through the end of the season. But who's complaining about that? If only our jobs offered such perks, we'd be more than happy to take them.

Investment In Youth

But that's the life of a big-time athlete/star, we suppose. If nothing else, this is a great reason to get your kids outside kicking a ball around. Who knows, maybe one day they'll reward your great parenting by gifting you your very own new Audi!
