A sharper premium compact sedan

The 2021 model year A3 sedan has added the latest design influences, from Audi. Fans of compact four-door will now have options on a much sharper overall design, with new headlights and front bumper details.

Better airflow management at the back

Around the rear, Audi's updated A3 sedan has new taillights, which feature the brand's iconic sequence-flashing turn indicators. Contrasting with the overall flow of the A3 sedan's rear styling is the pronounced spoiler, which is integrated as part of the trunk's aluminum stamping. This aerodynamic detail helps keep the new A3 sedan to a low overall drag-index.

Slightly longer overall

The A3 sedan has defined shoulder and belt-lines, which can best be seen in its side-profile. A notable exterior styling detail is the four-ringed badge, which sits on the lower section of its rear doors. Although the 103.8-inch wheelbase remains unchanged, Audi has stretched the overall length of its 2021 A3 sedan, up from 1.6-inches. The new front bumper design makes up for most of that overall size gain, compared to the 2020 model year A3 sedan.

Taller and wider

Length is not the only dimension where Audi has grown its A3 sedan. The 2021 car is wider by 0.8-inches and taller too, standing 0.4-inches higher when measured from tarmac to roofline. One of the primary benefits these small increases in overall size deliver is better passenger headroom, which is now 0.8-inches more than before. Luggage capacity rates as fair for a vehicle in its class, with the A3 sedan capable of stowing 15 cubic feet in its trunk.

Cleaner digital cockpit

Audi interior design has always been regarded as peerless and the 2021 A3 sedan delivers yet another masterclass in flawless ergonomics. The driver is served vehicle information via a 10.25-inch digital cluster, which can be upgraded to a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display. Instrumentation can be customized too, with traditional 'round' dials, or bar-graphs.

More powerful infotainment system

Anchoring the center of the A3 sedan cockpit is a 10.1-inch Multi-Media Interface (MMI), which is touch-sensitive. Audi claims that its new MMI system is much slicker to operate than before, which vastly improves computer processing power. Some of its standard feature functions include online traffic information and new. Ensuring seamless Smartphone convergence with your driving experience is pre-loaded Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Flip-switch shifter

A significant change to the A3 sedan's cabin ergonomics concerns its automatic transmission selector. The large shifter between the seats has been replaced with a much smaller switch-type selector This saves a lot of space and allows Audi to create an abundance of small-item stowage.

A bolder compact sedan

Defining the new A3 sedan, are its fishhook-edge headlamps, which feature 15 LED segments per unit. Between the headlamps is a new hexagonal-pattern grille. Powertrains are the familiar fare of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, but the big news is mild-hybridization. Audi A3 sedan now has a 48-volt integrated energy harvesting and storage system, which should significantly improve inner-city fuel-consumption, for commuters.
