Ode to a Legend

As legendary of a Group B Rally car as they get, the Audi Quattro changed the rally racing game forever. Up until Audi's stroke of genius, AWD systems were only used for off-roading purposed. When the Quattro introduced AWD into the competition, everyone else was immediately at a major disadvantage. And although they tried to catch up, they never could quite catch Audi's little monster.

1,000 Horsepower Restomod

Because of it iconic role in the history of rally racing, the Quattro became a wildly sought-after automobile, even to this day. And with popularity and demand comes a rise in sale prices. A Quattro rally car was recently sold at auction for around $2 million! But that won't stop enthusiasts from creating amazing replica builds like this 1,000-horsepower Sport Quattro.

Minor Aesthetic Updates

Looking at it as a bystander, one can appreciate the quality of work that has gone into this Audi to make it look better than when it was new. The lower, more aggressive stance of the car is complimented by those BBS wheels. But the real magic of this machine is what lies under the hood.

Modern Power Under the Hood

The original Sport Quattro road car was powered by a 2.1-liter inline-5 engine that produced 306 horsepower. LCE Performance has replaced the original power plant with a modern 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that has been thoroughly reworked. The new mill can easily produce 700 horsepower with 29 PSI of boost. But it gets even more interesting.

49.3 PSI of Boost!

As documented by Engine Swap Depot, the motor can produce as much as 1,081 horsepower when turned up to 49.3 pounds of boost. The German builder is selling these bundles of pure insanity, with prices starting at  €90,000, or approximately $110,000. This crazy restomod modernized the power while keeping the timeless style of the legendary Quattro.
