How well do you know the Audi RS models? They sit at the top of the Audi performance car hierarchy, and they get a lot of attention. But do you know everything about them? We created this fun true or false quiz for you to test your Audi RS knowledge. Do you think you have what it takes to get a perfect score? There is only one way to find out. The answer key is at the end. Let’s get started.

10. ‘RS’ Stands for Rally Sport

We are starting off with an easy one. You see the RS badge on the back of an Audi and you know it is the top of the heap when it comes to performance for that particular model. You may even know the specific horsepower rating and 0 to 60 time. But do you know what RS stands for? RS is an abbreviation for Rally Sport, which is tied to Audi's heritage of competing in Rally Sport racing where Quattro all-wheel-drive became a legend. True or False?

9. The First Ever RS Model was RS 2 Avant

The Audi RS models have been with us for over 25 years now. The RS 2 Avant was certainly one of the early ones but was it the first? Produced in collaboration with Porsche the RS 2 Avant is a 311-horsepower super wagon. It has a top speed of over 163 mph and was assembled at Porsche's Zuffenhausen factory. The RS 2 Avant was the first Audi RS model. True or False?

8. Audi Never Made a Convertible RS Model

The Audi RS cars are all about performance. Speed and handling are what the RS brings to the table. A convertible may add some drama, but it also adds weight. Convertibles are also typically not as rigid as coupe counterparts. Surely, Audi would leave the convertibles for the core models and leave the RS models with traditional roofs for the sake of performance, right? Audi never built a convertible RS model. True or False?

7. Audi Currently Offers More RS Models Than Porsche

The Audi RS 2 Avant was built in collaboration with Porsche. And Porsche has a number of RS cars of their own. The 911 GT3 RS is a performance icon. More recently they added a GT4 RS to the lineup. And that is not all. Porsche is a performance car company. Ultimate performance is what the Porsche brand is all about. Audi has a history performance cars and has had plenty of racing success of their own. But Audi as a brand tends to lean more on the luxury side of things. For the 2024 model year Audi offers more RS models than Porsche does. True or False?

6. Audi Sold the RS 8 Sedan in Germany Only

It is no secret that many Audi RS models never made it to the United States. In fact, most RS models were never sold here. RS cars were being enjoyed by the rest of the world for over a decade before the first one was delivered to U.S. soil. Does that include the A8 flagship sedan? If the A8 is the top-of-the-line Audi sedan. And RS represents the top performance model. Then surely Audi would combine the two to make an RS 8 super sedan, right? But sadly Audi sold the incredible RS 8 sedan in Germany only. True or False?

5. Every Gasoline-Powered Audi RS Used a Turbocharged Engine

With the exception of the RS e-tron GT every Audi RS vehicle is powered by an internal combustion gasoline engine. And these cars are all about making big power compared to their lesser siblings. What is an easy way to make more power from an engine? Turbocharging. If a standard Audi had a normally aspirated engine, Audi would slap a turbo or two on top of it to increase the power to the point that they could call it an RS model. It is a common recipe. In fact, every gasoline-powered Audi RS has used a turbocharged engine. True or False?

4. The 2013 TT RS was Final RS Model to Offer Manual Transmission

It is no secret that today you can’t buy an Audi RS with a manual transmission. Actually, you can’t buy any Audi with a manual transmission. Driving a manual transmission may be more fun and engaging. But with the modern dual clutch transmissions being so good, a manual transmission is significantly slower than a modern automatic. That is one reason why Audi moved on from offering the manual in their RS cars. The 2013 TT RS was the last Audi RS model to offer a manual transmission. True or False?

3. There Was Never a Rear-Wheel Drive Audi RS Model

Audi is famous for the quattro all-wheel drive system. It made them a legend in rally racing, and the advantages were quickly realized in street cars as well. An all-wheel drive car can launch faster than a rear-wheel drive car thanks to the added traction. And as we know the RS cars are all about speed. Rear-wheel drive is fun and exciting. But it is slower in many circumstances and the RS models must achieve maximum performance. There was never a rear-wheel drive Audi RS model. True or False?

2. The First Audi RS Sold in the U.S. was the 2007 RS 4

As we mentioned in one of the earlier questions, the U.S. was late to the Audi RS party. These incredible cars were tearing up the German Autobahn for many years as us yanks could only read about these foreign models and sulk. We prayed that someday Audi would see fit to send them here. Finally, our prayers were answered. The first Audi RS sold in the U.S. was the 2007 RS 4. True or False?

1. The Most Powerful (Horsepower) Audi RS Ever is the RS e-tron GT

Audi has given us many powerful RS models. Some of them with massive V10 engines under the hood. Each new generation of the RS cars gets more and more powerful. Then Audi released the first all-electric RS car called the RS e-tron GT. And it has changed the game. The Audi RS e-tron GT is the most powerful (based on horsepower rating) Audi RS model ever. True or False?
