The quattro key to unlocking value for Audi

Audi had a strong year in 2019, selling 224,111 vehicles for customers in the United States. The product portfolio is more diverse than ever before, with the brand now selling a range of vehicles. From SUVs and sedans to the R8 supercar, Audi has a product for every driver. As the market has become more obsessed with crossovers and SUVs, Audi's legendary all-wheel drive technical ability, has become very valuable. The quattro system simply makes any SUV or crossover better.

This SUV is the most popular

Audi's most popular American market vehicle is unsurprisingly an SUV. The mid-sized Q5 SUV was chosen by more Audi customers than any other vehicle in the Germany company's portfolio. The total Q5 sales volume for 2019 was 67,516. What makes the Q5 Audi's most popular vehicle? The attractive design and all-terrain ability absolutely help to make it so popular.

Audi's biggest SUV is also popular

Audi's near the most popular vehicle is the Q5's bigger sibling, the Q7. It has all the appeal of the Q5, with additional engine options, performance, and space. The total Q7 sales were 34,649. What makes it so in demand? Beyond the Quattro all-wheel traction, which works a treat in all conditions, the Q7 also offers air-suspension. When customers choose Q7 with air-bellows at all four wheels, they benefit from superior ride quality on all surfaces and better cornering stability.

A4 is Audi's most popular sedan

Audi's third most popular product is its compact sedan, the A4. Although most of Audi's product volume is moving into the SUV and crossover segments, the company remains committed to its traditional sedan customers. And there are few finer four-door cars, than the Audi A4. American customers chose to take delivery of 26,435 A4s in 2019 and there is no question that it's geometric styling, and compelling turbocharged engines, are very convincing.

Sloping rooflines are becoming more popular

Audi's fourth most popular vehicle is one of its most stylish. The A5 range is one of the most strikingly proportioned vehicles on sale, both in four- and five-door configuration. American buyers are swayed by the A5's turbocharged V6 engines and Audi sold 23,023 of these luxury sedans and liftback cars last year.

Q8 is surging in popularity

Big SUVs are a big deal in the American market and Audi's latest sloping roofline version is showing its worth. The stylish and purposeful Q8 has found favor with American customers and in total, 14,256 customers chose Q8s in 2019. The blend of turbocharged V6 and V8 engines make it very appropriate for customers who need stylish SUV looks with significant performance credentials.

R8 keeps its natural and remains in demand

Audi's most expensive car still has a fair amount of demand. The mid-engined R8 sold 574 units in 2019 and it proves that people still consider Audi's most potent vehicle as a real alternative to rival supercars. With its naturally-aspirated V10 engine, Audi's R8 has increasing appeal in a market where many rival supercars are now turbocharged.
